Can't find Wireless card on my T42

Just purchased a T42 (2378-RSU) used on Ebay. The seller said it has a WIRELESS Integrated 802.11b,g wireless(MPCI). I tried to activate the card using the FN+F5, but it did not work. I drive to find the card using 'device manager' but I could not find it. I tried downloading the drivers and still no card. I finally had a Tech look for it and he said no card is present. At this point I guess there is no card. But I was told the 'T42 Centrino' came with a built-in Wireless card. Anyway, can someone please tell me how to locate the card (if one exist). Or, perhaps you can recommend a good Wireless card to purchase. I'm currently using the D-Link Extreme G wireless Router.

According to www.ibm.com, the specification for that model is as follows:

Wireless upgradable means it doesn't come from the factory with a wireless card fitted.

If there was a wireless card, it is located under the wrist pad (untranav) portion of the laptop, check the HMM for removal, it is not hard to do, you will have to do this anyway if you ended up buying a wireless card to install.

Adding back an internal card is not hard, just a bunch of screws and the antenna clips (your antenna is in there).

The important thing is to ensure you buy an internal card that is IBM/Lenovo branded/certified, otherwise it probably won't work without a BIOS hack.

eBay and this forum have others. There is plenty of debate on this forum as to which is best. My recommendation, you'll want at least a G adapter.

What was the name of the seller if you don't mind me asking? I had the same problem and he refunded my money for the cost of the wireless card. Called it an honest mistake.

Thanks for the offer. I purchased a D-Link wireless G card, 108MBS. This was recommended since I have the D-Link G 108MBS router. Not sure if it would have matter with another vendor, but I was just taking advice.
