security chip problem...
security chip problem...
I have T42 23739UG purchased 20 days ago... I have a problem with embedded security chip ... I have enabled the chip, I installed all the related S/W from IBM however when I am trying to configure the chip using the Client Security Setup Wizard I receive "The embedded security subsystem is disabled. You must enable it from BIOS Setup before it can be configured... or trying to connect using console.exe I receive "an internal subsystem error occured while trying to access the Embedded Security Chip. This might be corrected by a reboot" I reboot the system I ve checked that the security chip is enabled in BIOS however the problem remains....
T42 1.8M 80GB with Windows XP SP1 build 2600.xpsp2.030721-1857
Any Ideas?

Re: security chip problem...
Yes, but you will not like them. I ran into the same trouble on my T40p. The only thing (after many converations with tech support) which solved this problem was a clean re-install of Win XP. Easy enough to do but what a waste of time. Also, if you decide to go this route, be sure to have all of your IBM propriatery software backed up to a CD for re-install.e_k wrote:I have T42 23739UG purchased 20 days ago... I dont understand why people would want to download it... it provides no real security, the only worthwhile feature on its face it the encryption, but they (IBM) have obviously chosen a very weak encrpytion algorithm (possibily to meet US Export regulations?) anyway you would be better off with PGP its free and has AES which is far far better... all of the features of the IBM CSS are absolutely useless and a waste of resources
