my camera can see infrared port flash!

I was taking some pictures of my 600e (which incidently is up for sale) and i noticed that through my camera the infrared port was flashing every now again with a purple light, checked with my eyes, no light there! heres the photo that my Pentax optio S5i took:(amazing camera by the way!)

No one may ever read this but your camera is lacking an IR cut off filter most newer cameras have them permantly on them. An IR filter cuts off the extreme ranges of the visible light spectrum, if you used the camera to take pictures of celestial objects (stars and other astrophotography targets) you would see what is called blooming. Hope this helps, solve the mystery.
