Z60m goes into _Standby_ while working. Any Ideas?

#1 Post by archer6 » Mon Apr 17, 2006 7:04 pm

I will be working on my Z60m and all of a sudden the computer goes into Standby.

This is an intermittent condition which has occured just 6 times in the month that I have had it. It is very random and does not seem to be related to what applications I'm using. Also it's not because of heat, as I am mostly just using word, firefox, etc. Light computing.

Any Ideas?

Thanks

Plugged or unplugged, mine goes into standby when the battery reaches a low charge level.

When it occurs for me, is when the computer is plugged in with a full battery charge. I even went into the power manager utility where one is given a choice of what you want the computer to do when the battery gets low. I changed mine to "do nothing".

Other Ideas?

Thanks,

what power profile are you using? (FN + F3) When is it set to go into standby? You can view the power profile settings by pressing FN + F3, and then clicking "manage settings..."; or by pressing the thinkvantage button -> click control device settings -> click manage power schemes -> click "manage settings..."

does your computer go into standby after, say, 5 minutes of not touching a key/mouse? or does it happen even while typing or moving the mouse?

It goes into standby when I'm actively working with the keyboard and mouse. Thanks for the tip to go into the power manager. The power profile was set to ThinkPad Default. In that mode the setting was after 25 minutes go into Standby. So I changed the profile to maximum performance which keeps everything active. I don't care about battery life as there is enough for me.

Thanks Again, Hope this fixes the problem.
