A21m

#1 Post by molson » Mon Apr 17, 2006 8:10 pm

I have a A21m Laptop and love it, however, recently the thing died on me.
Like others whom have posted here I would push the on button, the hd light would flash, and then thats it.
After reading posts here I decided just to jump to the replace the mb.
I have one on order but have not received it yet, however thought that it would save time to take laptop apart.
Please check the pix attached (I bought this used) the bottom of the mb has had a jumper soldered onto it. The pix shows the jumper position, when I took it apart the jumper was down against the brd and shorting against the second pin on the ic.
Question is: does anyone know if this is a repair for the power on problem, I'm wondering if I re-assemble using this mb... maybe it might be OK ?

oops... don't know how to insert a photo
the jumper is between a cap and a pin on a 8pin ic, positioned on the underside of the board, right under the keyboard socket, which is on the top side of the board[/img]

You can try photobucket.com for hosting photos. They are free and pretty easy to use.

Be sure to only use links and not the actual photo. (See FAQ).

I would post a link so that we can all look at it. I had a similar problem with a T23, where a cap(?) came off and was lying loose under the systemboard. Someone just posted in the thread that I created, that they had just repaired the same thing and the board began to work again.

I would try it and fix it and see if it will work....what do you have to lose?
