Re: two different size for T60 14inch ?
The T Series ThinkPads are all tapered, the front edge is thinner that the rear edge.mlli4 wrote:Check the two models. Both are 14inch but different size
All 14.1" T60 or T60P are exactly the same size, here it is from the Lenovo spec book:
14.1" models (WxDxH): 12.4" x 10.0" x 1.0-1.2"
Notice the the front side is 1.0" and it tapers to a thicker 1.2" near the back edge of the computer. Viewed from the side it's like a wedge.
Same applies for 15" models:
15.0" models (WxDxH): 13.2" x 10.6" x 1.2-1.4"
Hope this helps

T60 12.2 inch vs 12.4 inch width?
Similar to the varying height issue, I'm seeing different listings for the width as well. The 2GHz T60 is listed at 12.2" wide, while the 2.16GHz T60 is listed at 12.4" wide. It seems unlikely to me that they are actually different widths. Which one is right? Unfortunately that 0.2" makes a difference for me, due to a tight case.
If some altruistic T60 owner wanted to measure for me, that would be peachy too.
Thanks,
Ben

Re: T60 12.2 inch vs 12.4 inch width?
The two dimensions regarding height reflect the "wedge" shape of the computer when viewed from the side the front is thinner than the back.bfineman wrote:Similar to the varying height issue,

For example" 14.1" models (WxDxH): 12.4" x 10.0" x 1.0-1.2";
That means the front edge of the computer is 1.0" thick which increases to 1.2" thick at the back edge of the computer.
Hope this helps....

Re: T60 12.2 inch vs 12.4 inch width?
Thanks Archer. Do you know if the "wedge" applies to the width as well as the height? That is, could it be 12.2" wide in the front and 12.4" in the rear?archer6 wrote:The two dimensions regarding height reflect the "wedge" shape of the computer when viewed from the side the front is thinner than the back.

It's 12.2 " wide front to rear no difference.
It's 10.0" deep no variation.
These are quite handsome computers. I personally like the design and the fact that your new ThinkPad will look fresh and new for years. They have stayed with this form factor since 2001. The outside style, color have remained constant.
Cheers!

Re: T60 12.2 inch vs 12.4 inch width?
Thanks again Archer. So I guess I should assume that the 12.4" width on the 2.16GHz model is a typo? If anyone disagrees I'd love to hear it, otherwise I'm going to assume 12.2" is the way to go.archer6 wrote:The computer when viewed from the top is pefectly rectangular.

I did more reasearch and came up with the following which is 100% accurate. There is indeed a width difference of 0.2" between the two models. This was really surprising to me, as I have read the specs sheets several times and completely missed this...
Direct From Lenovo:
Model: 2007- 02U 12.2 x 10.0 x 1.0 - 1.4"
Model: 2633 -D7U 12.4 x 10.0 x 1.2 - 1.4"
My previous post was incorrect.
So now you have the "facts" to work from.
Cheers

Someone here was concerned about exact dimensions... Sorry I don't have a ruler with me right now.

Re: T60 12.2 inch vs 12.4 inch width?
It depends as there is a compression factor regarding the "rubber feet". For example, when I rest my (large) hands on the wrist rest I notice a compression factor of .0279"astro wrote:Does that include the little feet as well?archer6 wrote:For example" 14.1" models (WxDxH): 12.4" x 10.0" x 1.0-1.2";

Conversely when my (demure female) assitant rests her tiny hands on the wrist rest of her T60 the compression factor is reduced to just .0098"
Further complicating the matter is that when either of us tries to measure the thickness of the computer under the "loaded" condition, our hands are in the way.
I would be open to any suggestions from those of you "Experts".....

Oooooohhh, I think I would have to try that for myself and see; I do know a fair deal about biomechanics and anatomy.archer6 wrote:It depends as there is a compression factor regarding the "rubber feet". Is your assistant available for, uhhhh, calibration sessions? For the instruments only I assure you; you see, they are quite sensitive. Of course, ergonomic optimization is also of the utmost importance in terms of controlling experimental variables; I would further recommend the addition of "comfortable" clothes for the assistant as well.
