X41 tablet - my WiFi control is broken

#1 Post by adamr » Tue Apr 18, 2006 7:57 am

Ok, I can't completely correlate these 2 events together but I'm pretty sure that since I uninstalled the Verizon EVDO software from my X41 (I had a Verizon PC Card for EVDO broadband access), I can no longer control the WiFi radio from the Fn-F5 screen. I can click on the turn on, turn off icons as much as I want and it does nothing. The only way for me to switch the radio on and off now is to go through the network settings and configure the Intel wifi adapter - when I get to that screen, I can turn the radio on and off.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling access connections a bunch of times to no avail. Has anyone had this problem and resolved it?

Also - I've noticed that my battery life has gone from just over 4 hours, to barely 2 hours. I have the extended battery and even with WiFi on, I would still get about 4 hours/charge. I have not changed any of the power settings - I'm still using the "ThinkPad Default" under power manager.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks..

Adamr,

Try uninstall and then re-install the wifi driver. Make sure you turn off the the wifi radio first and reboot after uninstall.
