how to show battery life on battery meter?

#1 Post by rxl77 » Tue Apr 18, 2006 1:28 pm

Hi, I have a T43. How do I get my battery life meter on the bottom right of the taskbar to show remaining battery life in time? Right now it only shows it by %...

Anyone can help? Thank you.

Single click on the icon, go to Show, then click "Remaining time when on battery"

It should pop-up a menu and "Show >" should be a little tab in that menu; what is the version of PowerManager that you are using?

Using latest version for my T42, no "Show" tab either.

@cmarti, Michael1980 :

I think this feature works only with Power Manager for T43; you can find more details here:

Hope I'm not wrong, I never tried it.

I installed PowerManager on my 2 t41p's. Seems to be working ok. I found the "Show" menu item and picked "Remaining time when on battery". Not sure how accurate it is. Shows 1:44 remaining at about 78% full right now.

I'm using the battery maximizer - and it shows the time if i hover the cursor over it. Otherwise, it only shows the %.

I've posted in a previous thread (search people, search) that you can install Power Manager 1.12 on a T41 (for example), not all functionality is supported, but you can switch to the "time" display.

It does just fine - on other TPs. For the T43, the utility is called Power Manager.

There's a little blue Access IBM button on your TP near the ESC key, it can tell you all about it.

If I want to install Power Manager on a T42, do I need to remove Battery Maximizer?

3-Run power manager
4-Reboot
5-Run software installer to install the power manager.
6-Reboot
7-Enjoy it.

The only complaint i have with the power management is that before install it i was having between 9.30 and 10.10 Hrs of battery now it's show 7.45 only any ideas?

I have the setting to lowest cpu speed and lowest lcd brightness.

600 .70V
2.10 1.19V

Suggestions?

Thanks.

Did you ever achieve "between 9.30 and 10.10 Hrs" of actual usage?

Its quite possible that the new power manger is giving you a more pragmatic estimate of the achieveable duration on battery power.

Cheers,

Bill

Never had the need. you think that maybe that estimated time that was showing the battery maximizer was unreal?

i think the estimated time that shown on the bar should be more or less close to the remaining battery usage time.
i am always still to that to work with my thinkpad
