Other vendors using S-IPS or MVA/PVA notebook displays ?

#1 Post by Puppy » Wed Apr 19, 2006 2:54 am

I'm wondering whether other vendors (like HP/Dell/Sony) have these kind of LCD panels in their notebooks. It seems as IBM/Lenovo is the only one who currently delivers decent display quality.

I'm very disappointed by the quality of displays during last few years because the quality is going down. Most of vendors currently focuses on stuff like 3D gaming performance - I don't care. Even IBM no longer use FlexView panels in R series (Z probably never gets them as well) and moved them to T exclusively.

From the research I did - IBM owns the patent of the IPS Flexview screen.

I don't believe that. AFAIK S-IPS technology was introduced by Hitachi. I've also found an Asus notebook with IPS panel.

IPS technology was jointly developed by Hosiden and NEC.
