T23 New Battery Issues - Multimeter anyone?
T23 New Battery Issues - Multimeter anyone?
So my old battery died a horrible 0 charge death. Picked up a "New" OEM battery but when its installed all I get is a blinking orange battery light.
Was wondering if anyone has any suggestions or if they could Mulitmeter their T2x series laptop to tell me
a) the voltage coming out of the laptop on the two outside battery pins
b) the voltages of the three centre pins
c) the voltage read from the + and - of a half charged battery.
Tnx

Yeah blinking constant orange mean battery and or charging circuit are dead.
My old battery reads 0 across pins 1 and 5
The new one 11.3,
What I want to check now is if the right current is coming out of my laptops pin 1 and 5.
Just checked this "New Battery" and its manufacture date is Nov 2004... hmmm think it might be a dud.

So it seems my T23 doesn't put out a charge anymore
I got another replacement battery with a manufacture date of late 2005. The orange light comes on and stays on, but after over 16 hours the actual charge in the pack has dropped 1%.
Anyone have any ideas or suggestions as to how to fix this problem. I'm a dab hand with a multimeter and soldering iron, so opening her up for surgery is not an issue.

Seems a Multiple Battery Charger could be a temp. "work around" to charge batteries externally to your machine, I actually have an ad for some here if you're interested.
If you do make any progress with a repair to the board I'd be really interested in hearing from you as I have a couple of T23's with the same issue.
Good luck.

T23 battery
Didn't I read somewhere that updating the T23 BIOS somehow filtered out all non-IBM (3rd party)batteries? You would end up with a blinking orange light..........Switch to an IBM battery and its fine. Anyone remmember that? That has happened to me on some of the older T-series laptops.
