fingerprint sensor on T40

fingerprint sensor on T40

I own a T40 2373-42G
and I want to put on it the palmrest with the fingerprint sensor
does any of you know if the mainboard will recognise this accesory?

(I am talking about the sensor into the palmrest not any usb style sensor)

It won't work because the motherboards that supports it are different from the one you have.

yup, youll have to pick up a T42 board with support for the reader in order to use it, unfortunatly.
Thinkpad T60 2613-CTO (2\4m\667, 3GB, 200GB 7200, DVD-RW DL, SXGA+, 3945ABG, 128MB x1400, GBe, BT IV)
Thinkpad T40 2373-PU7 (1.7\2m\400, 2GB, 120GB 5400, DVD\CDRW, SXGA+, Intel 2915ABG, 32MB MR7500, GBe, BT II)

If your lappy doesn't come with fingerprint reader you will have to replace the mobo. :cry:

Or go with a USB finger print reader... but the power on security needs bios support which is not yet available.

no. you need a T42 board which has support for the reader, not all of them did. If your system didnt have it in the first place, you need a new board.

That stinks. I wanted to tinker with that option. I am not going to replace my board for that. It is not worth it.
