New Hard Disk for T23
New Hard Disk for T23
Hi folks, I'm looking to buy a new hard disk for my T23 laptop. Could some recommend a good place to buy in the UK. If possible I was looking for something around the 120 GB 7200 rpm range.
Any thoughts.
Thanks
Stu

120GB 7200RPM doesnt exist.
100GB 7200RPM is the highest, or you can get a 160GB 5400RPM

Hi Stuart, I'd recommend http://www.ebuyer.com/ From my experience they have always had a good range, price and customer service.

the 7k60/7k100 disks are great. Fast, reasonably quiet and they speed up the laptop quite a bit. A 100GB model is going to be faster than the rest of the models (80GB, 60GB) due to a higher data density, and a 160GB 5400RPM drive is going to be very close to that one due to data density, but you will definatly lose seek times. I have a 60GB 5400RPM Fujitsu drive in my T23 and a 60GB 7k60 Drive in my T40 and the difference is definatly noticable, but might not be worth the price too some. For me, I wouldnt have anything but a 7200RPM drive in my main laptop and a 10K drive in my main desktop

for a T20?
yeah, it might be 3600RPM, its old enough... probably has 256-512k cache too.

Stock HD in my T20 was a 20gb 4200 Travelstar. I pulled it recently, replacing it with a 5400 40Gb Hitachi/Travelstar.awdark wrote:What speed is the stock hard drive anyways? I figure 4200rpm but it feels slow enough to be 3600rpm.
