T42 to X40

#1 Post by Stunt101 » Fri Jul 30, 2004 3:01 am

Hey guys,

Although I absolutely love my t42p, I think the x40 might better suit my needs. As far as basic computing is concerned (ms office, aim, internet explorer, mp3 listening), do you think there will be a huge difference in performance?

My laptop currently has the 1.8 ghz dothan, 128 mb video card, 1 gig ram, dvd rw, and 60 gig hd.

The x40 has 1.2 ghz, 512 mb ram (slower speed), cdrw/dvd reader (ultrabase), and 40 gig hd (much slower rpms than the t42p's).

I know there would be a world of difference performance wise if I were playing games, but strictly for the low-intensity programs I'll be running, will I notice the difference?

Thanks in advance,
Stunt101

X40 use 1.8 inch hard disk, which is obviously slower than T42's 2.5 inch
hard disk. When starting a application, the latter hard disk really outperform the former one.
