ThinkPad I series (1171 Model) Hibernataion problems

#1 Post by Eloquence » Fri Apr 21, 2006 11:37 am

Win2K Pro- This is not my laptop, it's borrowed from a friend so I don't know much about it or it's history I'm affraid though she saiys this has never happened to her however.

I accidentally put my computer into hibernation yesterday and since I was in a rush I didn't stress over it until I tried to boot it back up. Now it will not turn on at all. The battery was near fully charged before and now it's completely charged after being plugged in all night but it still will not come on.

I tried pulling out the battery but it still will not reset it so I'm baffled. Could the power switch itself not be functioning? Did I fry the hard-drive or the battery on accident? I deal with desk tops more then laptops and I would look at the powersupply if this were my PC but my knowledge of laptops is somewhat limited

This is completely baffling for me and the only think of is that the battery is dead some how. Can anyone think of something I could try before going out and wasting money on a laptop that might just be dead?

Thank you so very much

-El

Not sure if it will help, but try pressing the FN button and see if it will "wake up".

Actually I figured it out thanks to some helpful advice from a friend. Apparently if you pull the battery completely out and leave it out for about three or four hours it'll reset it. Wheew, I was about ready to cry because my desktop went down yesterday as well and I was looking at the very grim reality of having not computer access.

I'm such a junky. *head shake* You know you're a addicted when you consider calling into work to tell them you'll be late and/or not coming because you need to fix your baby. *shakes head at self*
