New hotmail notify via blinking light - No Scroll Lk Light

Is anyone aware of software to notify user of new hotmail via blinking num-lock, caps-lock or "sleep" LED light?

I have been racking my brain trying to find one.

I feel silly asking this question, but was curious. Someone said w510 could boot from a usb. If so, could an older os be booted that way...like 98se...
