A20m PCMCIA problem

#1 Post by tibbar » Fri Apr 21, 2006 4:32 pm

Hi.
I have an A20m 2628 4TU and I think the board went bad so I got another board 12L3156I'm not sure if it is the right one.
Anyway, updated the bios to 1.13 -it has no info about
System configuration (product number), formatted the hard drive,
Load fresh copy of windows Xp SP2, loaded some drivers and utilities from IBM -everything is fine no errors in device manager
But BUT when I put any card in PCMCIA card slot it does not recognize it correctly and it will not load a drivers. I’ve tried USB2 card, Firewire card and WiFi card and they will not work.
PCMCIA card slot worked fine in the old board and all cards work fine in my T23.
Please help.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Are you running the Software Installer? It might help with getting the right drivers installed and in the right order.

Yes I did run Software installer.
Now something I've noticed:
I took the notbook apart plug averything in without screwing it together and it worked but then again after taking it apart and puting it together and screwing the whole thing together it is not working-top slot does not work at all and bottom for example
detects USB card as some SSA controller and it will not work.
Could it be connector on the board or card slot assembly itself?
