Returning my T60p 15" for a T60p 14.1"

I had both 14" and 15" model of T60p. I ended up returned both of them and got me a Mac Book Pro, with 20% student discount. The design of the Mac is impecable which no pc laptop out there could even come close to it. Also the keyboard is back lit and glows in the dark, which none of the laptop out there on the market has. Now with Boot Camp, I can install Windows XP Pro on the Mac running at native speed. Now I truly have both Mac and XP running on 1 laptop. Basically I have both pc and mac laptop merge into one and also the mac came with built in webcam right above the 15"4 wide lcd screen. As far as dimension and weight go, the Mac Book Pro is slightly heavier but looks smaller than the t60p 14", but it's thinner than the 14", plus it has dvi port. Really, I could not have asked for more with the Mac Book Pro as far as price (with 20% student discount), functionality, and portability combined both Mac and PC all in one unit.

Hey everyone, I just wanted to conclude this little story of mine. So I now have a 14.1" T60p and I love it. It even feels sturdier than the 15" variant. My only concern is that the LCD seems a little blue-ish in color. The whites seem somewhat off... anyone had this problem?

Also, how do I find out what model LCD I have? Wasn't there a site where I can lookup exact specific parts per system?

Hey mate, good to hear. I also have the 14.1" and think it's the "perfect balance of performance and portability".

As for the bluish-ness, this seems to be a common thing on most T series (not sure about others). Do a search for "blue push" on the forums and see what you come up with.

Another quick question, I tried searching the forums but to no avail. I split my hard drive in two giving me a backup partition (I usually like doing this.) Hoowever, now when I press the blue thinkvantage button, it says something like "operating system not found", is there any way to have it working again? The EISA partition is still there, weighing in at nearly 5GB.

Any help would be great.

EDIT: I just looked at my previous order for the 15" and it states 16.7 billion colors "24-bit" so if anyone would shed some educational light on this matter, would be appreciated greatly.
The IPS screens have a different transistor logic, they can show 8 bit / pixel, which makes 24 bit color depth.
The TN displays have 6-bit pixel depth, which makes 18-bit color depth.

You can see the difference very well, when you connect a MVA, PVA screen via DVI next to the ThinkPad.

I use my T40p (TN) next to my Samsung 193p (PVA), and the difference is like day and night.

However, for twisting the liquid crystals, PVA, IPS, and MVA suck electrons like there's no tommorrow. (read, short battery time).
In my opinion, IPS does not make sense on notebooks that travel a lot.
I am still waiting for new displays to appear that use Super-TN, like those new widescreens with 800:1 contrast and 160° viewing angle.

You can go to 32bit in control panel. Your screen will only display 18bit color anyway, but it might look nicer with the gradients and whatever Windows applies there.

I have it set to 32-bit colour, you can see the difference from the 16-bit colour setting.

I personally really like this screen. It's bright and has good contrast. I don't notice a blue push (but admittedly, my eyes ain't that great).

Don't worry about the blue-ish teint. It will disappear over time and change into the common yellowish color, as all LCD Backlights do after some time.

Give it 9-12 months.

Give it 9-12 months.

You can always color-calibrate your panel if it becomes an issue.

Greetings, I wanted to update you all on the laptop situation.

My friend is actually very happy with his laptop after 4+ years and still uses it as a work computer. He actually has several Lenovo computers now, and I am glad that I was able to put him onto the Thinkpad brand. I myself had a T43P that was stolen, however, due to sentimental and other reasons was able to procure another one soon after - 2687D3U. The T43P I have been running needed three motherboard replacements, and currently I am running Ubuntu 10.10...interestingly enough on returning from standby the prompt reads "Over current change" regarding the USB drive. My guess is this is why the motherboard was fried on one occasion, when I plugged a wireless mouse into the USB port the computer went goodbye and didn't even get to the Thinkpad screen on restart. It looks like it's the end of the road for me and my T43P, while it is still as beautiful as the day I saw it, internally, it is a jumbled mess. If anyone is wondering, I'm looking forward to becoming a tester for the new Google 12.1" notebook, and am looking to donate my T43P to a nearby public school library.

I'm thankful for this forum, while I'm not a computer master, my friend is and he's been very happy with Lenovo products. This might be my last post, and I just wanted to thank everyone and this community for my years of reading and lurking. This is one of the most amazing forums on the internet, along with some of the most knowledgeable and helpful forum members. To my Thinkpadian friends, and to Kamikaka007z, you will be missed. Thank you and goodbye.
