hi

my english is not very good but i try it.

I look for a thinkpad notebook without tcpa.

Have the t21, t22, t23 tcpa in it?

Can be deactivated in the BIOS?

thx for positive comments.

Welcome to the Thinkpad Forums :)

Included below is a link to a list of non-TCPA Thinkpads

If I recall correctly, the T21 is indeed the last T2X Series Thinkpad to come without a TCPA module.

You shouldn't be able to disable this from the BIOS.

I actually don't know what the immediate consequences of TCPA is, but I haven't heard of any open-source software being prevented from doing its job by it, nor have I heard of anything along the lines of breeches in privacy via the TCPA module.

Perhaps the biggest use of the TCPA, and the TPM modules, have been the attempt to prevent later version of OS X being installed on non-Apple hardware; as OS X checks the TPM as a way of authenticating the hardware...but there are several ways around this.

Heck, IBM even provides Linux drivers for it...So I am not to worried about how it will be used.

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.
