R50e keyboard removal problem.

#1 Post by tabithaboof » Sun Apr 23, 2006 9:16 pm

I am trying to get the keyboard off of my R50e to upgrade the ram, I have removed the keyboard once before to see if I had a wifi capable unit or not. Unfortunately now I am having considerable difficulty in removing it.

I carefully followed all the instructions here:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-53364

and have definitly removed all 4 screws but I get stuck at step 7, I am pressing between the F8 anf F9 keys but the front of the keyboard isnt moving. I have applied a reasonable amount of force to the area but I am worried about damaging the unit. Previously when I removed the keyboard I nowhere near this much trouble.

Does anyone have any advice at all?

Try pressing between the F8 and F9 keys again until the keyboard pops up (and watch the video to see how they do it).

simply pressing f8 and f9 keys will not do
while pressing f8 and f9 push front using that two fingers and it will pop up
