about tool kit

#1 Post by aslan » Sun Apr 23, 2006 10:03 pm

hi.

I am a scary cat for upgrading my Thinkpad for the fist time.

Can anyone advise me where I can get a well prepared packet of screwdrivers, tweezers, chip extractor, etc. for reparing (upgrading) Thinkpad?

thanks

Radio shack has some pretty good basic electronics tool kits. You might do a google for electronics tool kits to see what they contain and start putting one together from various sources.

Get yourself a grounding strap and use it.

Radio shack should have what you need. I just have a small box with the miniature screw drivers which does the job well.

If you want really nice or unusual stuff, you can try Wiha (they're on the web and will send you a catalog). I've bought things from them that I couldn't find anywhere else. The main tooks that I use are a set screwdrivers from Sears that include Torx, Phillips, and Blade. Very nice and reasonable, but this was several years ago. I'd check though. They seem much nicer than the Radio Shack sets.
