Screen Resolution

#1 Post by Ritesh » Mon Apr 24, 2006 11:45 pm

I have been using a Compaq EVO for the past 3 years with a resolution of 1280 X 1024. I recently switched to a T43 and would like to have this resolution instead of the current 1024 X 768, which the highest that I can get on the T43.
Any Suggestions?

Unforunately, 1024x768 is the limit on the T43 that you have (XGA). Assuming that the laptop is under warranty, it is probably not a good idea to swap out the LCD yourself, as it would void your warranty.

If you have no warranty, or do not care about the warranty, then you could always pick up a SXGA or a UGA display. The SXGA can handle up to 1400x1050, and the UGA can handle 1400x1200. However, I believe that you will also need the appropriate inverter to go along with the LCD that you choose.

You can check out the Hardware Maintenance Manualfor part numbers, and instructions on how to remove/replace your LCD.

UXGA is 1600x1200

UXGA is only avaliable for 15" models and you wont want to be using 1280x1024 on either sxga+ or uxga, its a 5:4 resolution while the two panels are 4:3
Thinkpad T60 2613-CTO (2\4m\667, 3GB, 200GB 7200, DVD-RW DL, SXGA+, 3945ABG, 128MB x1400, GBe, BT IV)
Thinkpad T40 2373-PU7 (1.7\2m\400, 2GB, 120GB 5400, DVD\CDRW, SXGA+, Intel 2915ABG, 32MB MR7500, GBe, BT II)
Thinkpad T23 2648-PS1 (1.2, 512mb, 2915ABG)
