X22 Recovery Failure - after HDD Swap

#1 Post by X22 » Tue Apr 25, 2006 10:16 pm

Hi, this is my first post. - So be gentle...

Ok so I bought this sweet X22, I fancy myself as somewhat tech savvy... but the art of the recovery disk seems to elude me.

My X22 came stock 128MB Ram 20GB HDD wifi Yadda Yadda Yadda...

So I have been pimpin' my ride... Maxed out the ram to 640MB and pulled the stock 20GB and replaced it with an 80GB 7200rpm with dual overhead cams! Whoohoo!

So after the new Harddrive went in I dropped in the reciovery disks and it took me thru the standard IBM "this will completely wipe your HDD schpeel"... and viola... the disk goes through the motions with the progress bars et al...

After it is complete with disk 1 it asks for disk 2 and continues in it's work... me all happy and confident my new baby will be ready to go any minute.... once disk 2 is complete it asks to remove all media... for a reboot and press enter...

after doing so it says "Error loading operating system" and tries to access the FLOPPY of all things... and stops at a C:> prompt?

I have tried the recovery process several times now...

Anyone experiece this? What gives? I know the machine works... I know the disks arent bunk and the HDD is clean out of the static wrap.. I even dropped it in an external USB case and checked it for errors on my desktop... nothing, she is as clean as ~insert off-hand comment about your sister here~

anyone care to give me their 2 cents? I am stumpped!

Thanks in advance...
