My T40 is totally dead. Before it died there were no warnings or symptoms. I tried removing the battery, pressing the power button for a minute, connecting the power adapter, but still nothing. I've reviewed the Hardware Maintenance Manual, but the suggestions don't help. Any idea?
Thank you.

Dead T40 - Woorkaround
Is a T-40 drive compatible w/ an X-22? If so, I can at least rescue my data. Thank you.
I do share the same problem with an old T22. Totally dead when hitting the power button no matter what. But if I do rest the iron piece for a couple of days I can bring the machine back to life!!!
Your data are most certainly safe on the HD and you can use your T40 HD with an older Thinkpad using an IBM Second HD bay.
