my t40 was great until the internal wifi took a dive. even a new replacement card wouldnt work, the minipci slot if damaged or something. it used to get REALLY hot right on the thumbpad, because there is a northbridge chip on the motherboard thats directly underneath the wifi card. stupid move, to whomever designed this motherboard for the t40.
other then that, i like.

Since I first laid eyes on one, it seems, I have wanted a thinkpad. Recently I tried to get my hands on a brand new T60, but my EPP contact was on holiday and I couldn't get the 14.1" T60p through my other source (they said it was being "phased out"... not sure how much truth lies in that). So, I used some savings to get myself a second hand T43. I was going to make another thread about it, but this seems as good as an.
I'm over joyed. Most of the investment I had saved for the T60p is intact, so I haven't given up on a new machine (I'm just waiting to clarify a few issues about model availability with Lenovo here), but for NZD$1400 this laptop is simply... outstanding.
The blackness. The ruggedness. The sexiness. Wow.
My only reservation has been that there is no serial number sticker on the underside. I found the serial number in the BIOS, so I'm not sure what the deal is there..
... but hey, it's on my lap now, and I'm happy

The T60 is a [censored] good design, ever better than the T4x ... have you seen one in person? I agree that there are small quirks on the 15" (nothing that can't be set right with a screwdriver), but the 14" T60 is one of the best designs I have seen.gunston wrote:i would advise you to get IBM T4x. if you do love the IBM classic design

I'm loving every moment I spend with this T43 (14.1"). I just feel bad I didn't jump on the band wagon earlier...gunston wrote:yup, i did look at it personally.
well, what i would say is Everyone has their unique preference...
... might have to buy MORE!
What annoys me most of all is that Lenovo appear to be scrapping their 14.1" T60ps. I was so keen...
Either way, I lose. *me starts looking for more T43s*
