X60 Tablet

#1 Post by allanleung » Wed Apr 26, 2006 9:11 pm

Does anyone know if the X60 Tablet's coming out anytime soon? I have heard a lot of rumour on the internet, can they be trusted?

I'm very interested in an X60T as well. Hopefully it will be coming out over the summer so I might at least get one during the fall semester.

As many of you may have known, this has been the source of rumour for quite some time. As of today, the release date is 25th June although it has changed in the past.

We can only hope that it will be this soon :)

To be honest I was hoping they would have released it sooner so that in the future all new upgrades to the X series could be done simultaneously for the tablet and non-tablet models.

This (wrong) link has already been mentioned, see this post. I actually wrote to the French dealer and pointed out the wrong information. They acknowledged it was wrong, but looks like they haven't bothered to fix the link.

That would imply Lenovo was waiting for Vista, right? I hope that's not the case.

Anyone have more news on an X6* tablet?

During the LenovoLive tour I had a little talk to the Lenovo-manager notebok-dept. He confirmed an X6x tablet during fall 2006 and it will have an "daylight-useable" screen.
I mentioned also some other points and wishes (X6xp-model, large-resolution X-series, ugly silver power-button, missing of an full docking solution for X6x,...) but no reaction so far.
He also didnt mentioned Vista as an reason for product dates.

Hope that helps...

Thanks for the info! I wish there was a good alternative to waiting. I wonder if there's an inexpensive way to rent an X41T for a few months.

Any news?

#13 Post by allanleung » Sun Jun 18, 2006 3:06 am

I have talked to people and they said that there is a possibility that X61 (the tablet) will be released at the end of June. I don't know if this is true. Has anyone got any news?

I hope they release it soon. I need to buy a new laptop for med school in August and really wanted a duo core tablet. I can only wait so long and might have to buy something else.

Hp and Toshiba have already released their duo core tablets...come on Lenovo!

hmmmm, a couple of days ago when i first heard about the possiblity of the x60 series tablet i wasnt to excited.

all the x60 series had differently (that i could see at first glance) was intel core duo. i decided i wanted to get a tablet because i would gain more functionality and the loss in performance wouldnt be noticable on my part. i hadnt thought about the other improvements it would have (better screen and etc).

do the new x60's use a 2.5" drive also?

i may just have to wait and buy the x60 tablet in a month or two

X61 vs X41

#16 Post by allanleung » Tue Jun 20, 2006 1:21 pm

Besides the new CPU, X61 will also feature SATA hardisk which increases the speed of your disk.

I have a question...Will the X61 display card have dedicated/shared memory? How much? What are the possible configurations with current X60/s?

They will, most likely, still have integrated chipsets for the video card.

ok so it will be a sata interface, but will it be 5400rpm, will it be a 2.5" form factor?

if it will only be 1.8" and 4200rpm then only upgrading to a sata interface doesnt seem that special.

It should be!
Because as far as a Lenovo-notebook-manager told me - 1.8" drives are only used in some japanese models...

The rumored release at the end of the year indicates Lenovo will put a Merom processor in the tablet, right? Otherwise, why wait so long?

while the core duo would be cool the T60 that i saw compared to a t43, the T60 looked huge. i hope if they do put the core duo in the x61t that it is still as small as the old x41t.

You may have seen a 15" T60 compared to a 14" T43.
Past: T42, T60
Present: X61s, Y450
Future: X302?

X61 Tablet won't be due till mid-late Fall at the earliest. By that point the Core Duo ULV's will be more plentiful, hopefully it will use that.
Have used just about every ThinkPad since the T42 days...
