PsaSrv.exe? IBM PSA Access Driver Control?

#1 Post by donking! » Sun Apr 30, 2006 6:36 pm

Does anyone know what this process is?

IBM PSA Access Driver Control (PsaSrv.exe)

It showed up in my services recently. I don't think it was there before. But it also says it's missing from the system32 folder where it's supposed to be.

Off the top of my head, I'm not familiar with this. I am going to do some research and get back to you.

I googled it and got responses, but the responses I got did not relate to a ThinkPad. A post purchase install of something?

PsaSrv.exe

PsaSrv.exe is a valid file for the T60 factory load. It appears in 2 places on mine:

1) C:\Program Files\IBM ThinkVantage\Common

2) C:\Windows\system32\drivers

My Google results say it's related to Professional Services Automation (PSA) from SharpOWL. Sorry, I can't help more than that.

Nice Work!

I wondered if it was indeed part of the factory software load, however since I had reimaged my hard drive, I could not check for that. However I called a friend of mine who has large scale experience and he says it's most likely there for Lenovo's large enterprize customers, using workgroup software services.

Thanks for the replies. Yeah, I did a Google search first, and didn't have much luck.

So what is PSA software? I had trouble looking that up, because all the references seem to assume people already know what it is.

It was just weird how the service seemed to appear on its own at some point after not being there. I guess I must have executed something that set it up.

Thanks archer6. I saw that web page already when I did my own Google search. It doesn't really explain what PSA software is. It explains how to select a PSA software for one's business, but assumes the reader already knows what they mean by PSA software. Anyway, the point is academic now I guess. I'm just curious. I take it from what I've seen that PSA refers to a broad class of applications employed by large business to integrate all their various activities (management, sales, development, production, etc.), or something like that.
