T41 takes forever to boot to desktop, then nothing happens.

#1 Post by Delmarco » Mon May 01, 2006 12:06 pm

I don't know what happened. All of a sudden this morning my T41 decided to take about 20 minutes to boot to the background desktop picture and then it just hung there for the last hour. Nothing had loaded up. I did get a prompt for

"Microsoft Visal Studio Debugger
An exceptin occured. Process will be terminated. (Exception address is 774FF067)

[OK] "

I clicked okay 20 minutes ago and nothing happened.

I have not done any recent upgrades or heavy downloads. My Adobe reader did update itself to the new 7.0 version last weekend and I think it installed some Adobe Photo editor software with it. That is the only thing that has changed in the system.

MOD EDIT: Don't double post.

I did today...but when the restore began...I kept seeing windows 98 files and something that gave me the idea that it was restoring it to windows 98.

I have win xp and I aborted the restore.
I'm still so confused.

All I'm doing is running diagnostic system tests in the ACCESS IBM DOS prompt.

But I think it has to so with video graphics/software files that may be installing during start up.

I don't think that you can ever have installed win 98 i your machine.

One more thing do you have an aditional drive where you can reinstall the OP?

It don't need to be a big one.

Or are you able to get into save mode?

safe mode boots slow as well.
Is there away to get the contents off the drive before I do a restore?
