watch DVDs on a 600e?

#1 Post by Legend66 » Mon May 01, 2006 1:40 pm

hi there im investigating the possibility of adding a DVD drive to my TP600e, but it would only really be worthwhile if i could get half decent DVD playback on the thing.

specs:
XP pro SP2
366MHZ
288MB
30GB

what options are available to me? like drivers, software, hardware solutions (like a pcmcia video card or somehting???) because with DVD playback this thing would be perfect!

thanks!

Yes, you can play back DVDs on the 600E. I have done so in the past. Granted, it might not run quite as smooth and a home DVD player, but it works just fine for travel.

The biggest thing that I can tell you is to make sure that you video display is set no higher than 16bit.

XP already has drivers for the DVD drive itself. You can use K-Lite as a DVD codec and playback system.

I agree. I have watched DVD's on a 300mhz TP600 with no problem. If you should have problems you might have to get a Margi dvd pc card. With a Margi card, DVD's will run perfectly. These can be bought on Ebay. Good luck.............
