External keyboard

#1 Post by LT » Mon May 01, 2006 3:34 pm

Hello. I'm trying to configure an external keyboard with my T23 thinkpad. It's a ps/2 keyboard with a ps/2-to-usb converter. The thinkpad's running Win2000sp4 and it won't recognize it. On bootup, it finds new hardware and identifies initially as a PCI device but never finds a driver.

I've updated the thinkpad's BIOS (last night) to the latest available. I also tried connecting the keyboard to the thinkpad's ps/2 port but it doesn't work there either (as a test, when I try connecting my ps/2 mouse to a usb port with the same ps/2-to-usb converter, it also doesn't get recognized).

I'm thinking of buying a usb keyboard.

Do I have any other options? Have I missed something?

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Not sure why it isn't working, but instead of buying another keyboard, you could try picking up a PS/2 splitter, and connect your PS/2 keyboard through the PS/2 port. It has to be used with a splitter and not directly.
