T23 - not all drives show up

#1 Post by Nolonemo » Tue May 02, 2006 8:19 am

I have my hard drive partioned into 5 partitions (for those who care, Win98, WinXP, Apps, Data, Page). I've aquired a faster drive, so cloned the drive to it. So right now I have two hard drives, total of 10 partitions.

When I put both drives in the T23 (second in ultrabay), only the first three partitions of the ultrabay drive show up in Windows Explorer. It doesn't matter which drive is in the ultrabay or whether I boot from the main drive or the ultraby drive.

If I plug in a USB flash drive, that drive shows up, along with the other drives.

Anyone know what''s going on? Is this a T23 issue or a Win XP issue?

Thanks.

If you use "Computer Management-->Disk Management", do all the partitions show up? If so, there's likely something screwy with the assignment of drive letters. Anothe possibility is a logical drive may be marked as active.

My guess is this is more a windows issue than a T23 issue. There were some threads awhile ago regarding 2 copies of XP on the same machine causing problems.

Further investigation shows that what should be network drives mapped to the T23 are in fact the missing partitions -- even though in Windows Explorer the drives have the icons and descriptions as if they were the mapped drives. Go figure.

I'm not going to spend more time on it since this is just a temporary situation.
