i have seen the windows vista is ready for DELL laptop,
just wonder whether it will be available for IBM thinkpad soon,
and whether or not my thinkpad is compatible.

Actually, you're reading that backwards. What Dell is saying is that their laptops are ready for Vista, not the other way around.

Vista won't be released until the 4Q of this year, if then.

Yes, your laptop is also ready for Vista.

vista is another heavy graphic os, hopefully my T43 can still cope with it.
well, let just wait and see what it happen then.

4Q? Hehehe - you mean whenever Microsoft is finished with Vista? The hardware specs came out about a year ago. It was supposed to be released by now. From what I undestand most of the major work is done. I also heard the product manager was "reassigned" because of the delays! We're all scratching our heads trying to look into our crystal balls as to the actual, actual release date!
