Hard Disk Paritioning Question

#1 Post by Vimal » Wed May 03, 2006 2:30 pm

I am a happy (ok...not so happy right now) user of the T60p. I have used it for aout 2 months now and am generally very satisfied with its speed, graphics and the whole package.

Now I need to partition the disk into three for System, Data and Archive. Beside this there is the ever-present pre-desktop area.

Could anyone pelase advise the best way to partition the single hard disk into three visible partitions without corrupting or touching the pre-desktop area. Thanks.

partitionlogic is one option without formatting the disk. not sure if there are any free tools available to do this. if yes, i'd be interested in it too. don't wanna reformat my hd.

btw, any bad experience with ur TP, u've mentioned u r not so happy right now....

Partition Magic is also a great and easy program to do exactly what you described.

One word of warning though. You should still back up all your important data before partitioning your hard drive. Even though these programs work 99% of the time, there is still an odd chance that something can go wrong.

I'll second the recommendation for Partition Magic. It's worked flawlessly to repartition my T'Pad drives for years. Just be sure to keep the IBM preload partition in the same position.
T'Pad 600e, 770x, A20p, A21p, A30p, A31p (2653-H3U), T43p (2668-Q2U) & T60p (2623-DDU)...it's an addiction.
