T or L Duo?

I am about to buy a T60 and right now I have the one I want speced out with a T2500 2GHZ.

What I would like to know is if there will be a SIGNIFICANT (more than 15 or so minutes on avg) increase in battery life if I were to get a T60 with the lower voltage L series duo,

THERE IS A VERY SIGNIFICANT BATT LIFE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BOTH :

T2500 = 2.0 GHz
ULTRA LOW VOLTAGE = 1.20 GHz.

BUT THERE IS NOT ANY L SERIES DUO ON THINKPADS!!!
OTHERWISE I'LL CHOOSE WITH THE L SERIES DUO!

Today is your lucky day. The X60s models 1702-, 1704- and 1705- do indeed use the L processor.

I wanted an x series because I wanted to have a very portable but POWERFUL computer for college and traveling. However I cannot stand that the max resolution on the x series is 1024 x 768. I need a larger resolution.

Unless I hear something to change my mind, I am going to buy the T60, 2623D7U .

I am upgrading it to 1GB of total RAM, adding the ultrabay battery, and a 3 year protection plan.

I am worried about shipping times. The last thing I want is to drop that much money and not see anything until July. I am in the US and from what I hear TopSelllers ship quickly here.

Any thoughts on all that?

WOW I DIDN'T KNOW THAT BUT PROBABLY WHEN I VISIT THE LENOVO SITE I NEVER CHECK FOR THE X MODELS ALWAYS CHECKED ON THE TXX SERIES BECAUSE THAT'S THE LAPTOPS I LIKE EHEHEHE =)) AND SORRY THAT I EXPRESS ABOUT THINKPADS IN GENERAL !

I am writing this on my X60s. My 60 series ThinkPads are listed (with the part numbers) below.

I just booted up both the X60s and the T60, then placed them side by side for a comparison of resolutions. When I open control panel for example it's almost the same size on each one. Same when I open Windows Explorer, the size of the folder icons is nearly identical, the font size, the spacing, everything.

Quite frankly I'm surprized how close these two resolutions are. Which just reminds me that the size of the icons, text, etc is greatly affected by the size of the LCD. The size of the LCD display and the native resolution, both need to be taken into consideration.

This is my first X series ThinkPad. I can say that I'm really impressed with this computer. I think that if you have not seen one in person, you should reserve your opinion until you see one.

It helps and it hurts! Just when I am certain that I will go with the T60 you give me this info.

I would really like to have the ultrabay though. I also like the power I get out of the T60. I am a little worried about the weight, but then again 5 lbs is not that much.

I know, this is a tough decision.

When I ask myself if I were to have just one ThinkPad, which would it be? I would be stuck.

I have a friend that chose an X60 with the slice that it docks into. Therefore he has an optical drive and some other ports. He carries that whole thing in his briefcase daily.

In response to a question about resolution I booted up both the T & X and put them side by side. An interesting comparison. When I opened Windows Explorer, the icons, fonts, spacing, etc. was nearly identical to the T60 in terms of size. Same thing when opening the control panel etc.

I would be happy to answer any of your questions, in order to provide you with enough info to make a decision. Without the opportunity to see them side by side it's hard to decide.

I am fortunate to have both, so send me some questions !

So the DPI on both screens is very similar.

As always, depends on what you use it for:

Word docs, email, bit of web surfing -- 1024x768 (XGA) no problem.

Spreadsheets, project schedules, diagramming, flowcharting, graphics, photo editing, CAD/CAM, etc. -- 1400x1050 (SXGA+) essential.

Well it is done. I just ordered my T60 2623D7U. I got it with 1GB RAM and the ultrabay battery. So with all that power I should have 7+ hours of battery life (amazing!). I also ordered the 4 year protection plan because I will be taking this to college.

Order date 05/05
The estimated ship date is 06/01 though the rep said it would probably ship on 05/28 (cross my fingers).

If the T60 is not EVERYTHING I thought it would be, I am most likely going to send it back and try out the x60.

I will post a personal review when I get it.,
