Very odd noise coming from... nowhere!
Did anyone else notice the same thing on T23? It's about very strange and disturbing noise that i can't get rid of. In fact it's not even a noise, more like some frequency or a few interfering all the time while the laptop is on. It seems to come from the upper left part of the case but i can't really find out what is causing this.
The odd thing is that the noise seems to disappear from time to time and only for a little while, pulsing and driving me crazy after several hours of continuous use. I love the silence near my T23 and that's the only thing that i can't get used to as the noise is quite sharp, even if not audible.
And it's not the cooler or hard drive for sure. It's something strange and i sometimes think it could be related to the LCD or a part of it. Can someone please confirm same problem? Or perhaps someone else knows the solution :)

Death gurgles of the backlight inverter!
Not always a sign of its impending demise, but usually something one should watch.
Sometimes opening the unit up completely then cleaning and reseating all the connectors can be beneficial.

James

Oops :(
In fact, it has something to do with LCD as sometimes pumping up or decreasing the brightness several times seems to help for a second or two and that's really sweet silence in my ears... i'm very sad to hear it could be the inverter though as this is going to be a long story to find a replacement.
The laptop landed on the floor 2 times (sic!) and i think it started to happen after the second "grounding". If there is a chance that it could be a loose contact or two... i would happily deassemble my T23 into pieces right away.
It has been well over 5 months since it started to happen. Do You think the inverter should die so far? Am i just lucky or more like that's truly some loosy connector inside?
Anyway it nearly hurts when i'm typing about this [censored] noise. I have to get rid of it this weekend, either way :)
NEWS! I just realised that the noise completely disappeares when i start to copy files from one partition to another... in other words when the HDD is busy alot, there is no noise! Does it make any sense and what's going on? :/ Once the drive is done copying, the noise is back...

I know the noise you are talking about, its a very high pitch pulsing buzz.
I had the same on my T22, along with a few BSOD crashes. I re-seated the memory on mine (as it seemed to be coming from that area) and it went...as did the paged memory crashes.
Maybe just coincindence though!
