Z60 question

#1 Post by jbrasher » Fri May 05, 2006 3:09 pm

I've pretty much decided to get a Z60M and was wondering if there are any issues particular to the Z60 series; either positive or negative, as compared to the other Thinkpad models?

In other words he's looking for reassurance :D

As you can see by my list below, I have several to compare and lots of ThinkPads in the last 10 years. I can say that the three 60 series ThinkPads I have are fantastic. They are three different machines for three different uses. They are identical however in their reliability and functionality. Build quality is great, I have lots of computing time on each of them and could not be happier.

Just had another thought to share. Why wait?
These models have been out long enough that the small number of issues that were present on the first production run, have been worked out.
If you wait and buy the next version when it becomes available you are subject to the bugs that typically show up on early models.
Regaring speed and those sorts of considerations, unless you absolutely need the latest changes, you will save time and money by purchasing now.
When I compare my Z (not core duo) to my T60 core duo, the only time the speed difference is noticeable is when I'm doing some modeling and rendering work. Video editing etc. All stuff that is resource intensive. For normal work such as Word/Excel/email/Web browsing, there is no difference in speed.

Thanks for your input.

Just after I posted this the Z61m was announced and I'll be ordering it.

Thanks.
