A21m - Microphone internal nor external doesn't work

#1 Post by csbayram » Fri May 05, 2006 8:06 pm

My built-in mic stopped working for the past few months on my thinkpad A21m. Everything is good with the audio settings and etc. I purchased an external mic that plugs into the audio input/line in on my laptop and that doesnt work either.
I went to the IBM website, it didnt have an audio device manager for XP for the A21m. I used the software installer, and after automatically installing all the recommended updates, my computer started to freeze after logging into my xp account. In safe mode i went and erased as much as I could of the installed components, it was a success, I just hope that it didnt tweak the BIOS so that this is gonna reoccur.
My computer used to freeze on XP load till my friend fixed it, I think the problem was the BIOS configuration, no clue what it exactly was.
But that is where I stand. I havent got any mic options internal nor external.
Can anyone cast some light on my problem.
Thanks

You should have a mixer for the audio somewhere.
Check if the mike isn't muted.
