will lenovo ship to EU? maybe even as gift?

#1 Post by festher » Sun May 07, 2006 10:28 am

ill call them tomorrow and order if they do, the T60P 14 inch cost 5000$ in denmark and with that kinda money in my pocket, im useally about to buy a car, not a notebook

even if they do not ship "as gift" and im hit by US tax + the danish 25% tax-hammer, ill still save some money.

ive been looking around and lenovo seems to be not only the most trust worthy place to buy from but also they seem to have some okay prices. i think im around 2599$ for a super loaded T60P 14,1

any advice are welcome, thx

i did import once t4x from the us. but you cant directly by ibm. goto shopper.com search for your desired tp choose a company which sends to europe. www.ecost.com worked good for me. but you have also pay around 80€fee for the shipping/toll companys

I have asked each and every company in Norway and Lenovo T60 is not available right now and i am sure not even next 2 or 3 months or maybe more. I really need to buy notebook and i dont want to run into dell because of their poor customer services. So, it would be great if i could import one into Norway?

As stated, IBM/Lenovo will NOT ship outside of the U.S. This is not merely a matter of convenience, but rather in deference to their worldwide subsidiaries -- and their home markets.

You can, of course, have the machine shipped to an intermediary (friend or family member) in the U.S., and forwarded upon receipt, but the IBM/Lenovo shipping policy is pretty inflexible; they won't even ship to a U.S. military APO/FPO address.

If we get it ship from us or canada, the international warranty will be effected in norway? especially, if we face hardware fail and needs a replacement?

I've never had a problem, but I would check TA Book (see the FAQ) to see if certain models are carrying different warranties. If I recall correctly, there are some global workhorse models which may be better suited to international warranty issues. That said, I've had U.S.-sourced ThinkPads repaired in Europe and in Central America with no troubles whatsoever.

The 2623-##U Topseller models are not covered by international warranty. I covered this in another thread. To be safe, go with the 1951-##U or 2007-##U models.

bill@thinkpads.com will ship o/s.

www.euclidcomputers.com will ship o/s.

If the machine has international warranty then, it's covered. I had a problem once with my thinkpad in europe and i called them up. They sent a courier to pick it up and shiped it back to me very promptly. i had bought the TP in Canada. You can't go wrong w/ IBM's International Warranty

More Thinkpads come with a three year warranty than with a one year warranty.

Three years is the "norm", not one year.

Why don't you buy the T60 from Germany? I don't think that after delivery costs, EU toll and value-added tax it's worth to order the notebook from US. Inside EU you don't have to worry anything but delivery costs. You can get the localized keyboard from IBM for about 50 euro and it's easy to change yourself. For example I can warmly recommend http://www.notebooksandmore.net-store where I bought my T60. Also in Finland the prices of Thinkpads are completely irrational...

Some addresses in Germany (remember you don´t pay taxes/custom when shipped within the EU)

Students/teacher/scientists:
www.nofost.de http://ok1.de/shop_content.php?coID=20

All others, e.g.
http://www.magicdevices.de/shop/index.p ... 1&parent=2

However, you will get a notebook with a German OS, you may need the English recovery CDs.

This company www.lapstars.de (have good shop ratings) sells an English keyboard version (probably OS too) next to their German offerings.

So, can you upgrade the warranty for the 2623 models to IWS?
