Intel to settle on single chip brand
"Intel plans to unveil a single brand name for a new generation of chips for laptop PCs and desktop machines, calling them the Core 2 Duo."

Getting a 404 on that page.
Well, I would think that is a bit redundant isn't it? Core *2* Duo?
Almost makes me think that there are going to be four cores in it. Like the new Intel Tukwila Itanium is supposed to have.

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.

I think the '2' makes sense... though it does seem redundant at first.
Core = original generation, Yonah
Core 2 = Merom/Conroe
Core 3 = Nehalem
So the number is the generation of the core, and the Solo/Duo/Quadro is the # of cores.
So in 2008, if Intel has a 4-core Nahalem, it will be called Core 3 Quadro

Ah, that makes more sense to me; I suspected something like that...but it is hard to keep up with all the name changes, especially from Intel.
