Will this HD work in 600E?

Older ThinkPads.. from the 600, the 7xx, the iSeries, 300, 500, the Transnote and, of course, the 701

Will this HD work in 600E?

#1 Post by dsigma6 » Mon May 08, 2006 8:25 am

Good morning...

Lookin to buy a new HD for the 600E- can anyone tell me if this will work, I'm not sure about the ATA stuff.

Hitachi 40GB 5400rpm 2.5" Notebook Hard Drive

Capacity: 40GB
RPM: 5400
Interface: ATA-6
Data Buffer (MB): 8
Interface Transfer Rate (MB/sec - max): 100MB/sec Ultra DMA mode-5

I read something that the 600E is ATA-5, but either way I don't know what it means and whats compatible. Also, do you have to mess with the BIOS to get a 40GB to work?

Yes, it will work.

All new HDs are backwards compatible with earlier ATA specifications.
