48 hrs to rechage new battery?

#1 Post by Aristotle11 » Mon May 08, 2006 11:32 pm

It has taken 6 hours to recharge a brand new (generic) thinkpad battery on my X31 from 5 to 30%, and it says it'll be another 48 hours to get to 100%. Can I get software to fix this? Is this normal?

EDIT: It is at 29% 16 hours later. I removed the battery, turned off the computer, etc., several times. All BIOS and embedded controlers are updated. HELP!

I ran the battery down to zero, and it recharged to 90% and then said it will take 48 hours to recharge. It won't go beyond 90%.

If by "generic battery" you mean a non-IBM aftermarket one, this might be as good a result as a you will get.

The internal circuitry in aftermarket batteries sometimes doesn't play well with Thinkpads.
