Re: IBM Product Recovery failed to restore your system
I'd just like to add, with thanks to previous posters here, that when I got exactly this same issue with my T60, it was indeed the memory, not the HDD. I removed the 3gb of RAM I now had in there, and reinserted the original 520MB memory set. Immediately worked like a treat. I'm now rebuilding the hard drive, and intend to put the 3gb back in once I'm done. And am optimistic. Best thanks for this idea.
Re: IBM Product Recovery failed to restore your system
I've read through the posts here and don't see the exact answer I'm looking for:
My CD drive does not work. I did the System Restore from the HDD hidden partition once and it worked. I've since upgraded the BIOS to version 3.23.
The hard drive is failing (and long story short I am not going to replace it yet) and I am hoping that a low level format might repair it. The drive is still usable, but is corrupting files regularly. It has now corrupted a kernal XP file so I need to restore.
My questions are:
* If I do the Full Format in PC-Doctor will this also format the hidden partition that houses the Restore (the OS) data?
* Is the "Full Format" the same as a low level format?
I don't have the recovery CD's.
Thanks!
Jason

Re: IBM Product Recovery failed to restore your system
PC Doctor's quick AND full format wipes/reformats ALL data on the whole disk.
ftp://ftp.mindcandydvd.com/pub/IBM_PC_B ... 3gt11a.txt
Low level format wipes any contents even more thoroughly, but won't repair a failing disk.
Without recovery CDs you are up the famous creek without a paddle.
I'd say you need a new CD/DVD drive and hard drive.

Re: IBM Product Recovery failed to restore your system
Dear all,
I have T43 Thinkpad and I have managed to copy all its IBM_Service hidden Partition (R&R) to another drive. Now, the thing is, I have two corrupted files, namely 3GGGW0A0.IMZ and 3GGPB3A1.IMZ which prevent me from restoring my T43 to its factory condition.
Now, if any of you guys have T43 and have these files (whether from your bootdisk, rescue CD, or IBMSERVICE hidden partition) would you be so kind to send me this two files (3GGGW0A0.IMZ and 3GGPB3A1.IMZ) to my email? (please PM me so I can give you my email).
thanx.
