wireless USB Mouse

#1 Post by mikek » Fri May 12, 2006 2:39 pm

Hi - just got a wireless USB mouse that I'd like to have permanently attached to my port replicator. Works fine if I boot in replicator - but if I plug PC in when working (which I often do) I don't seem to be able to wake it up again.....

I suspect not helped by when PC not plugged into replicator, the mouse transciever will be powered down and loose the connexion with the mouse itself. Anyone got a fix for this? Or am I trying to do something impossible.

Regards

I had the same issue with a bluetooth mouse going to sleep after a while if not used : moving it was not waking it up, but a click on a button did!

Depends on model. I find that MS wireless mice, the mouse and receiver maintain the link for months, years, until you initiate a new connection. The power to the receiver is not the issue.

P.S. when you dock with your replicator, does the Windows hardware wizard pop up any notification about anything USB-like being "found?" It ought to. You ought to hear a "do-DONG" sound, too, unless you've changed sound schemes.

This is dependent on PnP btw, if you've disabled that, new hardware may not be found unless you boot with it connected.

Disclosure: I have a mini-dock and dock II, but I believe the mini-dock is just about functionally the same as the port replicator.
