Those who've used both keyboards on T42 and X31

Which did you prefer? Just curious. I'm returning the X31 this week and one of the things I miss greatly is how it felt compared to the T42. Many say the keyboard on the T-series are very good feel, but I find the X31's keyboard to be much better.

Yes, I agree with you. Just yesterday I had the opportunity to compare the X31 with a T41 (not T42). The keyboard of the T41 bends a little bit at the right side. The X31 seems to be stiffer. But the keys are a little bit smaller than usual on the X31.

Oh, I can't agree with that. The 755 series keyboards were magnificent, but my personal gold standard is the 600X. Now *there's* a keyboard with perfect touch and feel.

Nonny,

As much as I love my venerable 600X and it's magnificent keyboard, I have to agree with Bill here that the keyboard on the 755CD/755CDV was probably the epitome of the laptop keyboard.

The one that Bill is referring to came from my collection of antiques. It was a hangar queen in it's prior life and has, essentially, a new keyboard that is a treat to use reminiscent of the IBM "buckling spring" keyboards and the greatly missed AST keyboards.

I've used both my T40 keyboard as well as an X31 and have to agree that the X31's feel slightly edges out the T40.

But my relatively large hands have difficulty with the slightly smaller size of the keys on the X31.

that's a tough one...I'll take the T41 though, if only due to the larger \ key.

I've used both and I must agree that the X31 keyboard has more feel to it. The T42 keyboard flexes at the number keys, and the strokes seem to be shallower. Maybe it's just me. But the bigger keys make the T42 keyboard feel more like a full-sized desktop variant.
