Strange artifacts on top of screen of Z60m (large pic)

#1 Post by rajm » Sun May 14, 2006 2:40 pm

Hello,
I have a z60m 2529eau with the ATI x600 graphics. Recently I have started noticing that there are strange artifact on the top of the screen in certain programs (Firefox, IE, MS Word). Restarting the computer does not help and I do not have an external monitor to see what the output looks like. Anyways, here is what I am seeing, sorry for the big picture, but it is hard to see if I reduce it.

normal. Ive seen it on every thinkpad ive had in my hands with any ATI chip inside, its pretty annoying to say the least. Try upping from 16bit to 32bit, seems to have fixed it on mine.
Thinkpad T60 2613-CTO (2\4m\667, 3GB, 200GB 7200, DVD-RW DL, SXGA+, 3945ABG, 128MB x1400, GBe, BT IV)
Thinkpad T40 2373-PU7 (1.7\2m\400, 2GB, 120GB 5400, DVD\CDRW, SXGA+, Intel 2915ABG, 32MB MR7500, GBe, BT II)
Thinkpad T23 2648-PS1 (1.2, 512mb, 2915ABG)

are you running at the native res? if so, try lowering it a bit... if not, try raising it to native.

Yeah, it is at native. I realized that it works fine when it is on the Advanced Dock, when it is undocked I see the artifacts.

that is very odd. i'm sorry, but i really dont have any more ideas that might help explain the artifacts. perhaps you should contact lenovo tech support.
