changing LCD possible?

#1 Post by festher » Sun May 14, 2006 5:18 pm

once lenovo decide to put a decent 14,1 lcd on the market, do you think it will be possible to upgrade the panel?

too many unknowns..

basically, only if the panels are exactly the same except for the different technology displays..

and it is unlikely that the electrical specs would be identical unless the display maker were trying for the upgrade market..

so i would say, not likely..

I would say its very likely, you can interchange any panel you like in the T4x series...

I think what Bill was trying to say was that a "decent" 14.1" display (as the OP said) might be packaged in a different housing (a thicker lid, etc.), not to mention that, if it has higher brightness, it would have higher current draw and this may require different tolerances on the power and mainboard interface, etc...

I highly doubt it. The same inverter is used for the 200nit and 150nit panels, not sure about the inverter for the 15" screens though.

Okay thank, ill hope and pray for something better then.

The brightness is not a problem to me, maybe because i have a 200 nit TMD, but the impact of changing angels horizontal, just by changing your position on the chair makes a huge difference in colors and brightness everywhere on the screen.

i havent seen such a bad lcd since my girlfriends old notebook with a non-tft lcd and if there was one notebook i didnt exspect this on, it was a 14,1 inch 3k$ top model T60p
