First battery charge?
First battery charge?
I just unpacked my shiny new T42. I plugged it in before turning it on. By the time it got through the windows setup stuff, the charge was showing 97%. It claimed to have 52 minutes remaining on the charge time. Since then, I've had it on and charging for about 20 minutes, and it's up to 99% with 35 minutes remaining. Is it normal for it to take this long? Is it simply reporting the battery percentage incorrectly? Thanks.
Heres what IBM says on charging Batteries:

If its any help?
Thanks

Re: First battery charge?
Times remaining to be fully charged can vary. Just use your new toy for a while and see how it goes. If you turn off your TP it will charge faster as less power is demanded from the adapter and more is available for charging the battery.dalee18 wrote:I just unpacked my shiny new T42. don't worry about it, it's fine. when i got my t40 i charged it up and i grew quite concerned when it didnt move from 99% to 100%, it took forever! On another instance the batter maximizer guage was reporting that my batter charge was at 30% and was stuck there for about an hour, i called ibm and they said i was out of warranty to replace the battery(1 yr on battery) so i hung up the phone, shut down the computer, unplugged the machine, unhooked the battery, sang a song(a short one), hooked everything back up and it was back to normal battery read 89%. I fig'd it was something to do with me swapping out the batterys after it went into hibernation.
I had the extended battery pack installed.
