Is Vista Worth it?

Im mad because I cant play the same videos I can on WMP11 Vista, I need higher video riquirements on my Thinkpad for that. Im mad because I cant even use Windows Movie Maker either because it says video requirements not met. I have to use a third party player to do that. Thumbnails of pictures and movies take up up way too long to appear, while in XP they go up as nothing. They have so much things to improve to get it more streamlined. I like Vista but in its current form they shouldnt even say that an 800mhz machine can handle it.

For me, it's not so much a question whether it's worth it but more if it will be necessary at some point.

Does anyone know if XP will support future multi-core processors? If so, I don't feel the need for Vista as I've got pretty much all the programs I need.

But a new laptop from time to time would be nice (or even necessary should the old one fail) and I wouldn't want to be *forced* to change from XP in that case.

I know lol I dont want to be forced either. But the thing that I did like for Vista was the lack of spyware. An some what other options, the thing is that Vista sucked on my Speedstep options. I couldnt use my battery maximiser program with it.
