MATSHITA UJDA745 replacement

I have an ongoing issue with my MATSHITA UJDA745 combo Drive in my T42, namely it wont play from any DVD media. After thorogh research, I have resolved the only way to fix this is to replace the drive.

Can anyone please tell me the following. Is is viable for me to replace the drive my self, and can I buy the said drive from any place?

Yes, the drive is designed to be swapped out quickly and easily.

IBM/Lenovo has the drives you would be looking for, as do other re-sellers as well. :)
