Carrying batteries safely
Carrying batteries safely
I always carry a spare battery for my T42... but it does worry me what would happen if something metal in my bag managed to short the pins. They're pretty well protected, but I still worry. I always wrap some cellophane around it as an extra precaution.
Any one know of any suitable cap or cover that exists to protect the contacts?
Thanks

I don't know of a cap that IBM makes to cover the pins, but I always put it in such a way as to have the connectors in the cloth-covered portion of the bag pouch. Also...Make sure there are no loose paper-clips in your bag if you don't have the cellophane covering.

But she is an IBM.

Re: Carrying batteries safely
When I'm carrying a spare battery, I put in a ziplock plastic bag. The larger ziplock bags from the food storage section at the supermarket work fine for me.mikek wrote:I always wrap some cellophane around it as an extra precaution.

A US firm called CaseLogic makes an enormous variety of bags for various thingies ... you may find them, or something equivalent, in your area. Try looking for cases for car radio face plates, or penny whistle bags (drum stick case/bag?), etc. You might not find something as slender as the battery, but the length is not uncommon.
You might also find a case/bag which holds your battery + something else (power brick, cell phone, paperback book.
