I installed VMware on my T43 and found the problem that, everytimes I start up my windows, IBM rapid and restore always asks me to set the password. I don't want to do this. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?
Someone told me to update the IBM rapid restore to the newest version such as 3 but that version requires a lot of space on your harddrive. So I don't want to do that.
I hope someone can figure out this problem.
Problem between VMware and IBM rapid restore password.
You can try what liquidicecube did in this thread.

I did some searches on this forum, and the above was the only solution I ran across. If you chose to uninstall Rapid Restore, go to: Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs, and uninstall IBM Rescue and Recovery with Rapid Restore.

VMware created a new user named "__vmware_user__" on installation and generates an unpredictable random password for that user on each boot. It is impossible to change VMware's behavior or configure RNR v2.x to ignore that randomly generated password. You have four options; live with it, upgrade to RNR v3.x, uninstall RNR or uninstall VMware.

That is strange; when I installed VMware on my machine. IBM RnR only asked once to set the password, during VMware's install process, then never popped that screen up again.
On the IBM RnR screen, there was a note that said "If this window has been displayed because of the install process of other software, please close it now."
I would go ahead and update RnR, which I think I did awhile back, and then try again.

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.
